Happy Springtime! Hooray! We made it through the winter, and now spring is here. This season marks the beginning of longer days and warmer weather- my favorites!
Here are some ways I am welcoming the wondrous days of spring~
-
Going on nature walks.
All I have to do is step outside to see the evidence of spring’s arrival:
– Flowers springing up everywhere
– The sweet melodies of birds singing
– Squirrels scurrying up and down trees
– New growth dotting our hillside
– Butterflies fluttering by
– Bees buzzing amongst the flowers
“The first blooms of spring always make my heart sing.”

Keeping the scent of springtime joy indoors
I tend to transition to lighter fragrances once the weather begins to warm in these ways:
– I use cheerful, bright scents in my diffusers such as lemon, lavender, or this one
– Brighter, springier perfumes dabbed on my wrists
– Candles burn with softer aromas such as these: one, two, three, four
– Spritzing homemade linen spray on curtains and pillows keeps the house smelling fresh and springy. I used this recipe from Magnolia to make mine.
“The flowers are springing up, the season singing birds has come.”
Song of Solomon 2:12

Salads (as the main course) appearing more often on my dinner table
There is nothing like fresh, crisp greens (and a homemade dressing!) to make my mouth water. Salads signify warmer weather, and the spring season inspires me to create lighter meals. No longer am I stirring up thick soups or heavy casseroles. Some of my favorite salad recipes are linked here. I also use this website for a guaranteed delicious salad.
“The deep roots never doubt spring will come.”

Reading outside
This past Sunday, I sat outdoors in the warm spring sunshine and finished reading this book. Enjoying a good read while smelling the fresh air and feeling the sun on my face makes me happy ☺
“I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o’er vales and hills, when all at once I saw a crowd, a host, of golden daffodils; beside the lake, beneath the trees, fluttering and dancing in the breeze.”
William Wordsworth

Leaving the windows open to catch the spring breezes
Now that we have screens on our new windows, I find myself opening up the windows more often and letting the fresh air circulate throughout the house. After what seemed like endless days of rain, I welcome the scents and sounds of a new season as they drift in.
“Come with me into the woods. Where spring is advancing, as it does, no matter what, not being singular or particular, but one of the forever gifts, and certainly visible.”
Mary Oliver

Buying more fresh flowers
Something about spring makes me want to add flowers and fresh greenery to all the rooms in the house. I suppose it’s because I want it to look like spring inside, too!
“Spring is when life’s alive in everything.”
Christina Rossetti
Three things I hope to do this springtime:
- Visit the farmer’s market more often for fresh, local fruits, vegetables, and honey
- Go strawberry and blueberry picking
- Enjoy a picnic at a local park or winery

Candles! I love your recommendations! I also enjoy my essential oil diffuser and your suggestions there. I just ordered a 6 pack of citrus scents from Amazon and look forward to trying them.

Aren’t citrus scents wonderful? Happy springtime, Jules xo

we have a local strawberry farm that I go to and I fill the freezer with several bags to use during the fall and winter months. They taste so much better than the store bought in the wintertime .
Natalie Guy says
What a great idea, Deb! I live by a strawberry farm and look forward to buying some fresh berries. Happy Spring!

Oh loved this! Even here in the UK, where we are a bit behind, it made me feel brighter and breezier most reading all you’re doing to usher in spring! Funnily enough, I just discovered diffusing after years and been burning lemongrass and then a pre mixed energy blend, too … also lightened up and made a Greek salad inspired frittata tonight! 💓☀️
Natalie Guy says
Jen, I love diffusing lemongrass! The Greek salad frittata sounds delicious. I will have to get the recipe from you xx
