Who doesn’t love a good brownie? Brownies are one of my family’s favorites, and they are so easy to make. I never understand why someone would use a brownie mix when making them is so simple. They taste SO MUCH better when made from scratch. I have been known to whip up a batch of brownies at the last minute at the request of family and friends or if we have unexpected guests.
This brownie recipe is another recipe I have been using for years! I love it because everything gets thrown into one pot, they bake, and they are done! So simple! You can switch it up by adding any nuts you like or omitting them altogether. You can add white chocolate chips instead of chopped chocolate or use almond extract instead of vanilla. Any way you choose, I can guarantee they will be delicious!
Simple Brownies
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup flour (I substituted Gluten Free flour)
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt (not pictured)
8 ounces chocolate chips (about a cup) (I sprinkle on top before baking)
1 cup nuts, optional
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13×9 inch pan or line with parchment paper. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add sugar, vanilla, and eggs. Stir in flour, cocoa, and salt. Mix well. Add chocolate and nuts (if using). Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until set. Cool. Makes 36 brownies.
